The Castagniccia

Authorised by ministerial decree the 25th April 1856 and recognised as being of public interest by imperial decree of the 7th February 1866, the OREZZA spa has a fascinating history.
The qualities of this water have been appreciated since Roman times!

Much later, in the 19th century, OREZZA health establishments, with their baths, showers and massages, were greatly appreciated by those seeking a cure, the thermal water being used to treat anaemia, problems of the nervous system, the liver and the kidneys and even malaria.

Belief in the miraculous healing qualities of its water became widespread.

During the second world war, the water was sent across to North Africa to restore energy and vitality to soldiers tired and strained by combat.
